Birchin Bridge Pond, Horsham



A card to his mother from John when he was staying in Horsham. He regular stayed with his two Aunts, Sarah and Fannie. On the holiday from the family butchers business he took in July 1907 he went haymaking and colt breaking presumably at his Uncle William's farm at Hornbrook Hill.

The Waterfalls, Birstwith



A post card from Harrogate from Mark Mitchell to Edith Hurst. The view of the waterfalls at Birstwith have many more trees obsuring them from the road today than 110 years ago. The card was postmarked in Harrogate and Brighton on the same day with around 12 hours between the two.

The Esplanade from the Pier, Southend on Sea



A card from May Tidy, she had sent another post car with a picture of an esplanade. She had painted some iris for John and was going to get it framed. May lived in Horsham until she was 102 years old and was know to John's grandchildren.

July 13th 1908 was a Monday. The White City stadium opened on that day, venue for the 1908 Olympic Games.

Convent of the Sacred Heart, Brighton



A post card to Miss Maggie Barnewall that was sent from Brighton to Kells in Co. Meath. Did she live in Brighton and gave it to John when she returned from her holiday? Working in the family's butchers shop would certainly given him access to people outside his immediate family to share his passion for collecting post cards with.
