The census shows that Elizabeth and her parents were living in New Street, Horsham along with her older brother John. Her father's occupation was a milk man. Her brother William was born in 1853. He was followed by two sisters Sarah, 1855 and Fanny in 1861. By this time she and the Goodridge family had moved to North Street in Horsham. Her father was still a milk man and her mother a dairywoman. In 1863 her youngest brother, Harry completed the family.
The 1871 census records that Elizabeth was living with her aunt, Sarah Gardener as her companion. She was 21 years old. Sarah Gardener's home was Ewell Villa in Station Road, in the Parish of Reigate Foreign.
Her father, William death was recorded in the first quarter of 1877. Aunt Sarah passed away at her home on 30th December 1878.
Elizabeth married James Tidy in Brighton on 25th November 1880. Between 1881 and 1891 they had five children: Lily, 1881; May, 1883; Fred, 1884; Charley, 1885 and Daisy May in 1891.
The 1881 census shows that they were living at Bottings Hill, Southwater. Her husband was a cattle dealer and they had a boarder living with them. (The Southwater History Group archive indicates that the house was put up for sale in 1883). There must have been at least one change of address before 1891 as her son Charley is recorded as being born in Roffey. The 1891 census shows the Tidy family was living at 55 Station Road in Horsham.
Her mother, Jane Goodridge death was registered during the first quarter of 1901.
