Fanny Goodridge 1861 - 1947

Fanny Goodridge

Fanny was the youngest daughter of William and Jane Goodridge and was born is 1861 in Horsham. She was the fifth of six children with John, William, Elizabeth, Sarah and Harry as her siblings.

The 1861 Census list her father as a Milkman and her mother as a Dairywoman. Fanny is recorded as being two months old. The Goodridge family are shown to have been living in North Street in Horsham.

Her youngest brother Harry was born in 1863.

Fanny was 10 years old at the time of the 1871 Census, she is recorded as a scholar. Her father's occupation is a Dairyman and her mother as a Dairyman's wife with her sister Sarah a Dairyman's daughter. By the time of the 1871 Census, both her older brothers have left home along with her oldest sister. The family was living at Bowling Green, Hurst Road, Horsham so had moved at some time during the preceding decade.

Her father, William died in 1877 and by the 1881 Census, she was a milliner. Her mother had retired

and her elder sister Sarah was a mother helper with her brother Harry an 18-year-old milkman.The family was still living at Bowling Green, Horsham.

By the time of the 1891 Census Fanny, her mother and sister Sarah had moved to 36, Gladstone Road, Horsham. The three of them are recorded as living off their own means.

Mrs. Jane Goodridge died before the next Census in 1901 as sisters Sarah and Fanny are living together again living off their own means.

The 1911 Census records that they have moved to Chalfont in Depot Road, Horsham.

Sarah died on 25th June 1927.

Fanny continued to live at Chalfont in Depot Road, Horsham until her death on 8th February 1947. She was the last of the children of William and Jane Goodridge.

Fanny Goodridge was John Povey Goodridge's Aunt.
