Betty was John and Hester's first child who was born above the family butchers shop in the same bedroom as her father on Valentine's Day 1925. Emily was her Great Aunt, widow of John's Uncle Harry.

Dear Emma: this is the first time a post card in John's collection was started with this greeting.  Emily Goodridge was Emma's sister in law and married to John's Uncle Harry.

With love, Auntie, but which Auntie. John's father had three sisters, Elizabeth, Sarah and Fanny. He also had two brothers William who was married to Mary and Harry who married Emily. Harry and Emily with their three children lived over the butchers shop at 6, Richmond Street in Brighton. Having cards from the other four aunts in the collection it is reasonable to assume that this card was from John's Auntie Emily.
