Dear Johnnie, thank you for pie, bring more. Did the Goodridge Butchers business make their own pies or did they buy them in from a supplier? With the addition of John to his father's workforce, might they have experimented with producing pies on site? Intriguing, but an unanswerable question.

This post card is from John's 1st cousins William, Jane and Harry Goodridge. Their father, also called Harry was a butcher whose shop was at 6, Richmond Street, Brighton.

John P Goodridge's daughter Betty said there were at one time three Goodridge butchers shops in Brighton. She was born in the family home above the shop at 26, Upper St James Street.  There were also two farms run by the Goodridge brothers. Ham Lane Farm in Lewes was operated by John Goodridge and  Hawkesbourne farm by his brother William.
