The imagery of this postcard is about punishment as there is a Cat o'Nine Tails and a Birch in the hearth.

From Mary and William Goodridge asking how Johnnie would like "this sort of animal" to farm.

Another humorous postcard from Teddy asking about Peggy and if John was going to be up for harvesting. The card is in the hand writing of Mary Goodridge and this card stated that Ted and Freddie had colds.

A postcard from Teddy about the April weather and asking if Johnnie was going to visit Horsham.

The Guildhall, Chard

A postcard from Sarah and Fanny saying that they are going away, but inviting John and his mother to visit before they leave. With no address, 6336 on the left and the message on the right it must have been sent in an envelop, but it has an unfranked stamp.

Knepp Castle Destroyed by Fire January 18th 1904

A card from EG, Elizabeth Tidy, John's aunt. The postcard was posted just over a month after Knepp Castle was devastated by a fire.

Horsham Grammar School

A postcard from Emma Goodridge to her son when he was staying with his sister in Lewes during August 1917. Her husband was a pupil at the school pictured on this card.

A postcard sent by Johnnie to his Grandma, Jane Povey from 36, Gladstone Road. He was staying with his aunties, Sarah and Fanny at the end of August 1903.

Hurst Road, Horsham

A postcard from Johnnie to his Grandma when he was visiting Horsham in July 1907. A postcard with the same image was sent to John by his auntie Sarah. John's great grandparents ran a dairy business from Bowling Green that was on the south side of Hurst Lane. 

These messages were written 4 years apart and John's hand writing had become more flamboyant over that time away from the influence of the classroom.

The Horsham Recreation Silver Band 1907

A postcard from Mary Goodridge of the Horsham Recreation Silver Band of 1907. John had been to a performance of the band in the summer of that year.

North Chapel, Horsham

A postcard from John's Aunt Elizabeth, she had been to  Hawksbourne and Harnbrook hill on a rainy day at the start of September 1907. Hawksbourne and Harnbrook were farms associated with her brother William.
