A postcard sent by Edith, the message indicates that John had provided her with it and others to add to his collection. Sent on 21st June 1905 and haymaking must have been imminent.

Bramber Village

Edith had taken her niece Marjorie to visit her mother and missed John's visit. The picture on the card is of The Street in Bramber with the castle in the background.

John had been to visit his sister on June 29th 1906 and Edith must have been concerned about the weather when hen set off for Brighton. It was a Friday.

Majorie appears to have been born in Eastbourne in 1900 or 01 and the post cards would suggest that she was a regular visitor to Edith and Percy.

At last a card that gives a clue to Marjorie's relationship to John. She was one of Percy King's nieces.

This message from Edith seems to suggest that her brother had not sent a post card to her for a while. Also a mention of cake from Horsham, was it from Aunts Sarah and Fannie?

August 9th 1905 was a Wednesday. Representatives of Japan and Russia met at Portsmouth. Maine to negotiate an end to the war between the two nations.

It would seem that at times John was very good at remembering to send post cards to his sister.

John had been to visit Edith in July 1906 and she and Percy were going to 26, Upper St James Street for tea on the following Thursday.

Princess Garden, Torquay

A post card from Emma Goodridge to John when he was having a holiday with his Aunts, Fanny and Sarah at their home, Chalfont in Horsham. The two Goodridge sisters moved into the newly built 34, Depot Road in 1905 and they were followed in residence by May Graham nee Tidy and her husband, Hugh and then their great-niece, Frances Graham. She lived in the house until she passed away in August 1999.
