Bonfire Night in Lewes - 2

It is reasonable to assume that Edith and her husband Percy would have attended the Lewes Bonfire Night events as they lived in the town. Her brother, John would have been just a short train journey from his home in Brighton to Lewes and he was a regular visitor to his sister and the family farm at Ham Lane. The Cliffe Bonfire Society fire site is located at Ham Lane.

Edith was going to visit if it was fine, her step-mother, Emma had been unwell.

November 16th 1904 was a Wednesday. English engineer John Ambrose Fleming received a patent for the thermionic valve, better known as the vacuum tube on that day.
